Ask: Create a video for new account management hires that details what the Sin of Overselling is, what it looks like in an industry perspective, why it’s not a good idea to practice it with a client, and how to avoid committing that sin.
​
Challenge: The biggest challenged faced was relating the sin back to an agency/industry perspective. Overselling is found in many ways in life so finding industry examples to relate back to was difficult.
​
Insight: Not everyone notices when they are overselling. Sometimes it just happens naturally and can go unnoticed until too late.
​
Strategy: Capture simple yet effective examples of overselling to clients that can be clearly understood by new account hires of why you should try to avoid overselling.
​
Solution: I solved my problem by finding the examples of overselling that were totally obvious. As said above, overselling goes unnoticed at times so explaining why you shouldn’t practice overselling to a client or in general helped me convey my message.
